How does the test work?
The monitoring equipment is mounted inside an arm cuff so the procedure is non invasive and completely painless. The equipment analyses the pulse wave produced in the blood each time the heart beats. This pulse wave shape will change depending on the architecture of the arteries. A pyramid shaped pulse wave would indicate that the arteries are relaxed and elastic. The stiffer the arteries, the flatter the pulse wave becomes.
